Purpose

WOLC Academic Board has responsibility for the regulation of the academic work of the College in teaching, Learning and examining. It shall also advise the WOLC’s management on academic matters affecting the WOLC.

Terms of reference

The Academic Board will conduct its business according to the following terms of reference:

(a) To maintain and enhance the academic quality of the College’s academic provision and to assure academic standards for all of its awards, in keeping with the College’s strategic goals.

(b) To be responsible for award Degrees, Diplomas, Certificates and other academic distinctions in accordance with the awarding bodies guidelines.

(c) To be responsible for programme development and approval of programmes of study.

(d) To promote teaching, learning and examining within the College and to monitor the effective operation of key policies.

(e) To make recommendations to the WOLC management on any matters referred to the Academic Board by management or on any other matter relating to academic quality and standards assurance or institution-wide academic policy and strategy; thereby providing WOLC management with access to the opinions of students and academic staff in such matters.

(f) To regulate academic misconduct and student discipline.

Chair

(a) WOLC General Manager shall be the Chair of the Academic Board.

(b) The General Manager may appoint from amongst the academic members of the College a Deputy Chair to act in his absence.

Membership

General Manager, Academic Manager, Tutors, Admin Manager, Student representative.

Meetings

There shall be at least one meeting of the Academic Board in every academic term.
